Working as an Assistant Costume Stylist for Amazon Prime’s Flames Season 4, I was part of a team dedicated to bringing characters to life through wardrobe. Under the guidance of Yashika Kakkar, I contributed to costume selection, fittings, and ensuring each look aligned with the show’s visual and narrative tone. The goal was to make the styling feel authentic and enhance the storytelling, blending realism with character expression.
Spending 40 days on set, I managed real-time costume adjustments, coordinated last-minute changes, and ensured continuity throughout filming. The fast-paced nature of a TV production meant being constantly adaptable—whether it was fixing wardrobe malfunctions, adjusting looks to match different lighting conditions, or assisting actors in maintaining their character’s aesthetic throughout scenes. Working closely with the production and direction teams gave me a holistic understanding of how costume design integrates with cinematography and storytelling.
This project reinforced the importance of attention to detail, problem-solving, and teamwork in the styling industry. I learned how even the subtlest wardrobe choices can influence a character’s persona and the audience’s perception. Balancing creativity with practicality was key, and experiencing the behind-the-scenes intricacies of costume styling deepened my passion for the craft. More than anything, this journey showed me the impact of collaboration in bringing a creative vision to life.
